Agra: Squeezing in a trip

Image
It seems that March flied with a Supersonic Jet speed as I feel that this has turned out to be a bustling month, totally. Having relatives around means less of alone time at home and more of merry making moments and time spending with them. In this tied up schedule we chose to go out for a small outing to some nearby place so we zeroed in on Taj Mahal, Agra, being at a short distance and gaining its remarkable significance in the history as well as in the existing world for bagging a win in the list of “seven wonders” was worth a jaunt. We left early morning from Delhi and on our way made a 60 minutes halt at Vrindavan to go over to the very famous Iskon Temple or Hare Ram Hare Krishna temple. Lord Krishna is the deity to whom the temple is dedicated. At Vrindavan the Iskon society also runs a boarding school on the lines of Gurukul wherein the students and teachers stay together and students learn things by observing their teachers. They also have a guest house in the temple pr...

When I moved further towards Kalasan... Part 3

30th January Wednesday Today out of the blue, I planned to devote my time by exploring the local market till the noon and in the evening I elected to go to see the stream with my cousins. The stream was at a distance of a kilometer, downhill. So I took a leave from home in the morning with my aunt, after having a nice refreshing herbal tea which was a mix of rose hip/rose hep, mint, green leaves and saffron. My aunt knows umpteen varieties of herbal teas and generally prepares by mixing two-three lusty herbs hence, making it healthy and luscious. The local market is a place called Churag which is 8 Kilometers away from Kalasan. It's a market where all the people living on the near adjacent villages come to shop for not only essentials but for some good amount of other stuff too. It is a full blown one stop shop destination point for the rank and files. It was fascinating to see all the home townies yapping in their region...

When I moved further towards Kalasan... Part 2

29th January Tuesday After having a ball the first day,  it's my second day in Kalasan, waking up early the first day combined with a day trip to Seri and around I happened to celebrate a little more sack time today. Late Tuesday morning munificently followed by delayed breakfast of my fave grub, Broccoli tossed salad. This brings to my mind to post that they grow a lot of stuff like Broccoli, Zucchini, Snow Peas, Cherry Tomatoes,   Capsicum (all possible colors), Parsley, Lettuce Iceberg and lot beyond, here. For more details one can check: http://www.knfarm.in/ I planned to spend rest of my flagging left out day at home so I took up site seeing as an only option to amuse myself. I went up to see the orchard, the fruits and veggies of the season, unfortunately that's the time when apples don't flower as the right time is from May-August.  Also we don't get to see emerald lush green meadows but discarded dried-up lands because of the unfavorable...

When I moved further towards Kalasan... Part 1

Sunday (27th January) On the Sunday evening I left from Shimla for Kalasan at around 1730 hours. Kalasan is a village which is approx 95 Kms away from Shimla and it takes nearly 3 hours to reach by car. Kalasan’s a small village with a population of around 450. It lies in the district Mandi with an elevation of 1600 ft above sea level, hence it’s graded under apple cultivation index and other seasonal cropping concurrently. I came here to visit my maternal uncle and his family (aunt and two children) after two years. The first time I visited them i.e. approx 10 years ago, was such an experience that I was overwhelmed with the surroundings and got carried away with the ethereal beauty of this rare location. Since that time I have been making short visitations to this place. It will be an inequitable and burdensome sketch of the place to describe Kalasan in my words as one needs to confront with its own eyes. This place is one of the best destinations from my favorites. I ...

Shimla: That birthplace glory

It all started when I noticed some work offs i.e. 26th January (Saturday) and of course 27th January (Sunday) consecutively approaching, resulting in a long weekend and there it was the commencement of planning as how to go about the holidays that are looming soon. Whenever I get an off from work I tend to do something particular as I don't like to waste the day sitting at home and doing “just” nothing. And a person like me always crave for such long weekends, it gives me time "my time". After thinking and getting fully over excited my witty itinerant mind spoke out to me, It convinced me to go for an excursion, a very short trip to a place which is nearby and can be done in two days. So, I thought and thought and thought a lot as which place to visit. But somehow the answer to my question was baffling as my ultimate best place (Himachal anyday) was the final answer. But to go there and come back in such short duration of two days was way too impossible. So I thought d...

One Permanent Abide

Image
"Here I am taking on the pleasures of the bedazzled sunset by the lakeside. Divine lake remains disinterested, ignores to play with the impish wind tide" "The hideous trees made bewitching silhouettes and water being the backdrop. Bittersweet orange complexion on the lake bed, in midst of it I spotted a leaf drop" "All I want is peace; I want to hold the aroma of this lake to make me fresh from inside. I am attached to it as it calls me every time, wish I can make on it, one permanent abide"                                                Hauz Khas Lake at Hauz KhasVillage, Delhi.

Here's to Aamir Khan and to make my old-age accompanied!

Like everyone I have a “not so small” wish-list, out of all countless wishes of the things I want to do, one is to collect a heap of books and to keep them safely so that they can be adorned onto the book shelf of my small reading room which I wish to have when I would have my own house and later in my old-age days these books can accompany me too. I don't know how to make the best use of books that we are already done with. Pass them on to someone else is not a good idea for me,  So like an intellectual human I would keep all my books to myself, safe. You can call me selfish. As I said here that I would click and write more this year, at the same time to add on to that I would also like to read more and more. I have an awful habit of picking up the books and somehow reading the books leisurely with consuming time so that I can take them with me to sleep more often or for more number of nights. This happens perpetually with me resulting in taking much more time to finish the...
